hey all, this isn't a thread just writing to say ride safe tomorrow.
two reported accidents today lets hope tomorrow is accident free and safe,
RIP to the victim of the Harolds cross accident and a speedy recovery to the guy dismounted on Gardiner street.

I know this might sound stupid, but please, try and be safe yourself. Make an effort yourself to minimize the risk of accidents...nearly everyday is dull at this time, so always use lights (even roadies can use these) and try to wear some sort or reflective clothing or luminous jackets...you can pick them up really cheap these days! Please...its worth it ;)

P.S. My sympathies to the above mentioned

Agreed - a good set of lights is a must-have for the morning.
Personally, I find the blue and orange boards.ie jacket to be sufficiently colourful :)

Are those Knog Frog things actually any good? They look way too small to be effective, but if they are effective, they'd be pretty cool.

I have a Knogg Gekko rear light. It has 4 blinking LEDs with some nifty patterns and it is VERY noticeable.

Yes, they are surprisingly good! They are so tiny, but the light out of them is more than you would expect. They will not light up the path in front of you or anything, more for drawing attention than anything else! I use them for dull days on the road bike, drivers seem to be more aware of the flashing lights. For heavy traffic commuting, or night riding, I would definitely recommend something bigger. The cool thing is they are LED and will last for thousands of hours. They are just rubber and stretch onto themselves on virtually any bar/tube and can be swapped from one bike to another in seconds without the need for any tools!

The frogs are good as a secondary light to help you be seen, but they're by no means a substitution for a proper set

Just got another front light from CRC delivered there.

It's bad that I'm getting excited about more lights.

The Cyclecraft book comes highly recommended http://www.cyclecraft.co.uk/

Although, I've been cycling for years I've just recently picked up a copy of it. Have just started reading it, but it looks like a great book from the outset (and a bit of flicking).
