So Altern8 are playing in Dublin in Jan and Feb. That's unusual.

Altern-8 certainly are popular in Dublin, just from talking to the lads myself they love playing here as well, let's hope they don't play the same set both times they play here, i was at the Big Dish last year in Kennedys (pi**ing rain that nite and the poxy bouncers made us stand in the rain for 15 mins and i arrived at 11.30 too:mad: )was good nite, i won't be able to make both of these nites so will have to decide which one ill go to but leaning towards this one (any concessions for this)

Oh yeah i didn't think your man Arveene played Old Skool, Simon F though is fantastic (hows it going mate if your reading this;))

Here's a little History lesson for younger Ravers..Altern-8 once ran for election in the UK and received 178 votes, and what was the name of their party...

    The Altern-8-ive (Hardcore) Party:D:D:D:D:D

    http://www.psr.keele.ac.uk/area/uk/ge92/partycand.htm
They changed the course of dance music, some even claiming that they influenced Detroit's Kevin Saunderson when they met in the early 1990s, and their effects went beyond bleeps - according to wikipedia, my memory is intact - they did run for election - for the The Altern-8-ive (Hardcore) Party, Peat coming in fourth place with 158 votes. That's quite a result; they didn't even finish last! In tribute then, I'll close with a tune pre-dating their canvassing of the streets: Hypnotic St8. Wish their powers had extended to real hypnotism and they won the seat. Imagine the duo dressed in full Altern-8 regalia? The world would have been a better place for it....

I liked that one about them dropping plum puddings laced with es from a hot air balloon on the homeless of some town in Essex 15 years ago, with 'The Poor Know the Score' messages on them. Caused a big media outrage, they didn't realise that the whole plan was slightly tongue in cheek as a plum pudding dropped from a height could kill someone.

I've seen Altern-8 about 10 times in the last 2 years so wasn't overly fussed about going, you folks missed them @ Fantazia on NYE, now that was a proper Rave.;)

Have seen Altern8 about 6 times now. Their set last night and the previous time in the same venue wasn't as good as The Belvedere or Rogue. But overall, a good night.

rave / acid and ambient / gunge were the most influencial scenes in music for me in the last 20 years. wish I had known the altern 8 lads were back in town and could have gone. maybe ill make their 2nd date if anyone can confirm.
