Some more losers for the forum :p

Bit disappointed that they've cancelled the chases because from what I saw on Tuesday the chase course wasn't cutting up too bad and I've seen far far worse, especially at Thurles. Anyway theres some average handicap hurdles races to pick the bones out of.

Thurles - Going Soft (Heavy in places)

1.05 It is very hard to look past Bannow Rose here and he should justifiably go off as a very high odds on favourite. This race offers ample opportunity to put that seconditis behind him being far and away the form horse in the race and Emmet Mullins taking off a valuable 5lbs. Shadow of the Wind for Henry De Bromhead may prove the best of the challengers having gotten around this track in a moderate 9th before but Bannow Rose should have too much in hand and is offered as the very unoriginal NAP of the day.

Back Bannow Rose 2pts win NAP

1.35 Another horse likely to be high odds on here is the Mullins/Walsh combination Layde Back. While I'm sure the horse has been well schooled I'm very reluctant to take anything near odds on for a horse that has yet to run over obstacles. A better value alternative may be Philip Rothwells Fairwood Bob who is a few pounds better off than Layde Back and would appear to have what it takes to figure among the places here. As always Tony Martins Askmeroe should be respected and any market moves watched while the red hot Dessie Hughes stable provides College Daisy who is best watched here I feel.

    Back Fairwood Bob 0.5 e/w

2.05 A much more competitive handicap than the preceding two, yet again a Wille Mullins trained horse will lead the market. Otay Kawn takes a reduced trip back to 2m where he showed up 3rd at Navan behind the classy Zaarito over the same distance. I'm keen to keep the right side of this horse, despite giving weight to everything else, and do think he will improve at this distance however it will be at prohibitive odds. Robert Tyners Gougane appeals as an e/w alternative. Having decent point-to-point form behind him and an excellent claimer in Phillip Enright he may just run into the places.

    Back Otay Kawn 1pt win
    Back Gougane 0.5pt e/w

2.35 A race that see's a lot of this sort return after considerable breaks. It makes for an unpredictable type of race as its impossible to know how many are out for the run and how many are flying back home and have better intentions. As such I think recent form is worth using as the yardstick in this contest. While Philip Rothwells Wicklow Lad will see most of the support, Mangan's Whinstone Boy is one who should come on for the run and meets Wicklow Lad only 1lb worse off here despite the latter having yet to shed his maiden tag.

Back Whinstone Boy 1pt e/w NB

3.05 The horse that caught me eye here is Estuary Princess. Trained by Eric McNamara and ridden by the talented Amy Lalor I fancy this horse to take the Bridies race off a nice mark. Guiding Dream and Matchbook are laboured with a huge weight to carry around heavy ground while Estuary Princess is a 1lb better off than the ratings on Blaise Hollow who appears to be the main danger. The vote goes to Estuary Princess who is a progressive sort and should be in the first 3 home.

    Back Estuary Princess 1pt e/w

3.35 The Bridies are out in force again for the bumper and its hard to see past Financial Regulator and Dolly Hall for the finale. What swings ot for me is the 5lb claim of the latters jockey whick puts Dolly Hall more than half a stone better than Financial Regulator. Added to this is the fact that Financial Regulator will be popular due to the Mullin-Katie Walsh factor, Dolly Hall may be an attractive price come the afternoon. Dolly Hall is favoured to take the honours.

    Back Dolly Hall 1pt win.

Best of luck if you decide to do anything. :)

To be honest Mike, I was at the track Tuesday and the gorund didn't seem too bad. Certainly not bad enough to cancel the chases, the horses weren't cutting it up too badly I thought. I've seen far far worse ground being ran on there.

Tis a shocking bad card alright though.

This card is going to be a bloodbath for one side or the other (backers/layers) me thinks.

I'll be backing the fav in the first anyhow.
