If you want to a be a trader then applied maths or stong finance/actuary... is your best bet.

Take SIG for example I went for an interview with them have a BA Econ and a masters in treasury + the broking exams (Reg Reps).

I was unceremoniously shown the door as I had not got an A in Honours maths for the Leaving.

Also trader jobs are few and far between in Ireland I work for a 'large' Broker Here and there has been 1 position available in Dealer Support (requirement!) in the last 2.5 years. but the maths requirement is def not as big a deal, more your knowledge of CREST market and work ethic (hours 7-5/6pm).

I have not looked seriously at trading ETFs so that might be different again.

Thanks man! That was very harsh after having such a good degree
So your saying that H.L Maths is your only hope but would this be the same on WALL STREET or LONDON

What kind of work does an Economist do and were??

    Go for it!

There's another company in Newry (first derivatives?) and they look for an A in hons maths too.
I'm seriously tempted to do LC hons maths again, not a masters in quants.
