Just spotted this on the TV, Spar selling own brand firelogs for €1. Does anyone know if they're anything in comparison to the Bord na Mona ones? I know the Centra ones are a little smaller than Bord na Mona but do the job.

TBH i'd only use them to be starting a proper fire so as long as they lit for even a little while they'd do, but if they're totally sh1te then wouldn't bother buying them.

Bord na Mona ones are around €2.50 so potential bargain?

    Eurospar Firelogs, 1.1KG from http://www.eurospar.ie/default.asp
Anyone know whaty a BNM Firelog weighs?

Aldi & Lidl sell their own brand firelogs - priced around €1.79
and I find they burn for 2+ hours same as the more expensive firelogs.

Thank's for that - don't suppose you know if they sell them in bulk for cheaper?

Still the Spar offer is great compared to Lidl/Aldi - €1!

I enquired about these €1-00 fire-logs in our local Spar. Shop assistant did not know anything about them. I asked owner/manager she replied "we are not doing that offer".
Bye bye local Spar shop, I'll not be back.

I'm not sure from your post if the manager said they were doing the offer and you are refusing to shop there because ther seems to be a breakdown in staff communication, or there's a typo in your post & you aren't shopping there because you believe you were mislead by the ad, and they weren't doing the offer, but isn't this a particular "EuroSpar" deal as opposed to "corner-shop" spar deal?

Would that be the reason for them not doing it if that's what you were told?

Sorry about the typo, edited since.
I did not realise it was a Euro Spar offer, I was listening to a radio advert before I went to the shop and all I heard was fire-logs @ €1-00, must have a listen again
Shop manager did not expand on "we're not doing that offer". If she did I probably would not have posted here.

They have this offer at all the regular newsagent spars in town (not eurospar) so they should be doing it. I've noticed this sort of offer irregularities in londis aswell. 30c this week for a 500ml pepsi max but in the one at the top of o connell street they didn't have any sort of offers

It seems a good offer but i find Spar overpriced for most items at the best of times and tend to avoid.

Im not sure that it is exclusively a Eurospar offer myself, it's just that I know from experience that my local (mini) spar doesnt stock them and never has, and they aren't currently doing some of the other €1 offers that are advertised in that ad either (lucozade and sammiges) , whereas the Eurospar next town over is.

Just thought that may be an explanation. :)

My local spar in crumlin on agnes park is not a Eurospar but they are selling the logs for a €1. They do the one euro Lucozade too.

Went into my local Spar yesterday and picked up 4 of these for €4.

Bargain.. and great for a long lasting fire!

Light a Firelog with a bit of coal and you'll get 4 - 5 hours of heat out of it.

Also checkout the Spar website (www.spar.ie ?) as I found these Firelogs at SPAR aswell as EUROSPAR shops, and there's a lot more Spar shops around the country

Each Spar is indivdually owned and run. They don't have to go with these promotions. I'm sure the ads all say 'available at participating outlets'

Well.. not quite local. But I went to Mullen's on the Bundoran Road.

Girlfriend tried Glynn's last week, and they had none.
