Ok so I am one of the many who will be going to the welfare office this week to apply for my dole. I am living in Swords but have to go into town to the office behind the Gresham Hotel. I am not looking forward to it all but that's life. What time should I be there at and secondly should I see if I can claim my tax for my last year back before going to the dole office or does it matter? PS I worked all of last year. Thanks

If you worked for the 52 weeks of last year and your employer deducted your tax and prsi correctly, then you should not have overpaid any tax and therefore would be due nothing back. However do check, and check for the last four years as well. No harm, unless you underpaid over the amount of 400!

I dont think it makes any different which you do first. One has no bearing on the other. Did you pay tax this year? If so fill out a P50 and submit it with your p45 - but you must do this 4 weeks after you cease employment. ;)

Cheers for that. Can somebody tell me what time is it best to go in and is there any particular day? Any further advise would be great. I'm dreading the experience and don't take it likely.
