I am a total idiot when it comes to computers.
My mother has eircom broad band in her house and my sister can therefore use her laptop in any room in the house. She just turns it on and off she goes. Instant internet access
So I am looking to buy a laptop and i need some advice. Do i have to get a special programme that will allow me to use it in any room in my house if i get eircom broadband? I was going to buy one from Dell and want to use it for internet access and downloading tunes to put on to my i pod. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks

No, you sister can use the internet in any room because its wireless. So long as you have a wireless laptop, you will be able to use yours in any room. You will just need an access code (called a WEP key) to connect to the wireless, but with eircom broadband, a disk will come with it which you install on your laptop and will give you the WEP key. Then you can use it in any room

If you brought your laptop to your mothers house, you could even connect to their broadband so long as you got the code from your sister. Although if your sisters anything like mine, it'll cost ya! :D
