Hi, need help please, complete novice so bare with me. I need to get mudguards for my bike, a boardman hybrid, anyone know which ones suit best for this bike?
Also I was out the other night in the rain and the following day the whole thing is covered in rust??? What should I be doing to stop this from happening and what can I do to clean off the rust?
    Thanks

Do you know from what material your frame is made?

And do you mean there is rust on the crossbar and other parts of the frame, or more located on nuts, bolts, the chain etc?

Alu frame, which is not affected rust on the nuts, chain etc. first trip in the rain and rusty already, odd

What type of lubricant are you using for the chain? I can recommend a spray that utilizes teflon, a small drop on each link of the chain after riding in the wet or when needed. I wouldn't worry too much about the chain's rusty appearance, as long as it doesn't squeek :)

Personally, on nuts and bolts etc, I use a small amount of grease to keep the metal surface moisture-free. I guess keeping the metal surfaces air/water-proofed in this way would prevent further corrosion, but wouldn't shift what's already there.

I only have it a few weeks so haven't put anything on it. I'll get something today for it. thanks for your advice

I was trying to find examples of the mudguards I used on my hybrid, without luck. Currently I use these, and find them pretty good.

I'm sure the shop could give you a better recommendation, though :)

You should wipe down the chain after every ride in wet weather.
