Heys guys, just a quick question. Can someone recommend the best cinema in Dublin which will make the most of the 3D effects of this film.

Ive never seen a 3D film before and myself and the girlfriend are dying to watch it.

I see UCI are screening it but the only list Coolock and Tallaght in there screening list.

Also VUE say there screening it, but say nothing about the 3D effects. They dont even include 3D in the title.

    Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks.

Also looking for an answer on this. Presumably cinemas don't need to be 3D compatible but do need to supply the glasses.

Cineworld on Parnell St is good for it. I saw the nightmare before Xmas 3d there a few weeks ago. They give you the glasses when you buy the ticket

Its just the glasses required, without them the film is fuzzy. I think there is no "best" cinema for the effects as i'm sure its pretty standard across the board with regards to the effects. I assume if 3d isnt in the title in a certain cinema they will be showing a non 3d compatible version.

    Any in Cork?

Need to see Jensen Ackles :p

The cinema needs to have a digital screen to show the 3D version. Cineworld has one but I don't think the uci's or the Vue do.

3D had changed a lot since Jaws 3d, so if you get a chance go to this for the 3D alone. I loved Nightmare Before Christmass 3D and I even sat through Brandon Fraser in Journey to the Centre of the Earth

Really curious about the 3-D & a big Jensen Ackles fan but I'm really squeemish when it comes to horror!

Does anyone know if Blanchardstown can show this 3D?

    Thanks

Am I the only eejit that thought this was a 3D show of the band My Bloody Valentine? I got all excited and everything.

I think Movies @ Dundrum and Cineworld are the only 3D equipped cinemas in Dublin. I know Cineworld slap an extra fiver on the ticket price though.

The new 3D technology is very good though. Too bad the films using it are utter sh*te... don't really expect this remake to be much better either.

Monsters Versus Aliens is the one I'm looking forward to though.

Dungarvan and Gate Cinema in Cork also show it in 3D, the Gate Cinema messed up the projection though so it looked horrible....hopefully they can fix it as it ruined the whole experience for me..

yeh i work in vue....were not showing it 3D because we dont have a 3d projector yet!But it says on the title on the website 2D!I saw nightmare before xmas 3D in cineworld but to be honest it was nothing special...im not sure if it was just because it was a normal film remade 3D or not?still a brill film obviously!but i just got sick of wearing the glasses after like 10 mins...haha:P

Yep. The 3D in Nightmare Before Christmas really added nothing to it.

I watched "My Bloody Valentine 3D" tonight though. Utterly terrible film... but the gruesome 3D deaths are good fun to watch.

I'd really only recommend going to see it if you have an Unlimited card like myself and it doesn't cost you anything extra to go see... as €15 is a ridiculous price to pay for a film this bad.

I went to see this in Movies @ Swords tonight; it was an extra €1.60 for it. I was impressed with the 3D effects (and the sound too) but the film was an absolute god awful pile of shíte.

I find it hard to believe that in this day and age people get excited about a movie being shown in 3d,I remember in the lateish 80s RTE showed a couple of movies in 3d at Halloween,I was excited about those, because I was 9 or 10and it turned out to be a terrible let down.A bog standard by the numbers remake of a cheesy but enjoyable horror, yer havin a laugh aint ye?

These aren't red and green coloured glasses though. The 3D technology actually at work here actually is very good.

I even went to see Fly Me to The Moon which was even worse than this film... but had some amazing shots of the Apollo 11 mission in 3D.

Saw this today in the Gate Cinema Cork. An extra €2 but you get 3D glasses that look like cheap sunglasses and not those awful paper ones with the red and green plastic.

    Awesome show in my opinion!

Ps: John Kelleher awarded this a 16? guy's softerning up in his old age.

Cineworld must have a nice mark up on them glass's then so, they are charging 15.30 a ticket.

Like i said already, it was my first 3D film and i thought it was awsome.

    Role on Monsters Vs Aliens

    :D

Just back from seeing it in 2D on the smallest screen in the Eye cinema in galway. I was surprised when I walked in and saw Sold Out notices for it on the screen until I realised that it was in screen 3 which holds about 50 people.

I really enjoyed the film and would count it as one of the best slashers in over two decades. The kills were fun and inventive, the acting spot on and the story strong enough to hold my attention. I know I'm a sucker for a decent gore or slasher film and my opinion is instantly biased when it comes to this film but I can genuinely say that I have not has as much fun in the cinema since the Hills Have Eyes remake.

The 3D shots looked really well implimented and I have to say that I really want to see it in 3D. In fact my inner/outer nerd is seriously considering a trip to Dublin to do just this.

    I don't even think I can watch 3D films..

Say for example 20/20 vision.. I would have 2/18

I saw this '4D' thing in an amusement park in Portugal fine, And it was awesome.. But I mean.. If I can't see it then €15 is a bit of a waste for a movie that is only good in 3D and barely that good anyways

    Summary:

    Can I -> :cool:

I read also that you just place these over glasses and you can see it fine.

Saw this at The Gate Cinema in Cork yesterday and the projection was messed up. Best example would be on the end credits you could see a faint double vision effect. Like this for anybody else? I presume thats not supposed to happen?

Saw it in plain old 2D last night. The Slasher as a genre is one I've actually grown to hate, thanks to the teen vomit of the late 90's and early 2000's. I wasn't expecting much of this, but seeing as the original is so highly regarded and initial response to this movie was pretty good (once Darko gave it a thumbs up the deal was sealed), I gave it a go.

Awesome movie. Gory as hell, though like Final Destination, despite being brutally graphic its never outside of a sort of tongue in cheek style. Hence the 16's rating. Most movies get this type of rating - Final Destination 3 was even 15A, meaning any child could have wondered in with adult permission. To be honest it's a fairly responsible choice, this type of film is not to be taken seriously nor is it intended to be. There is no sense of reality to it whatsoever.

Every time the pick-axe came out, the cinema was filled with screams. Don't get me wrong, nothing new is done here at all, but it's just done so damn well that it really is one of the most fun movies I've seen in years. Was tenfold better then I expected. And that's talking about it even as a movie in itself without any of the 3D effects - which didn't get thrown in your face too obviously bar one or two scenes, so there isn't really a great sense of missing out on anything. Would be awesome to see though, I'd definitely go see it again if I could see it in 3D. Definitely a movie for a big screen and audience. It just wouldn't be the same without.

it all depends where you sit. sit towards the front and in the center of the row and it'll be perfect.

anyone know when this movie is ending in dublin (either dundrum or cineworld). I was thinking of heading up to see it next weekend, but cinemas dont seem to give listings that far ahead.

I hate Horror movies, 99% of them are cheesy and predictable, I went on protest. The plot sucks, the acting is passable but boy I have never had such a great laugh in ages at a movie. What a class movie, the 3D is brilliant so far advanced than Jaws 3d! ( showing my age) .. the reactions of the audience gasping add to it and make it a fun night out. sitting in the pub with friends at 7.00 pm after a few and can't think what to do. go to this, you'll have a howl.

one class moment was the whole place was silent for a change as the plot built and one guy up the back left out the Only yelp when something icky happened, the laughing at him was all part of the fun.

go see it, leave your intellectual snobbery behind... I did and loved the escapism.
