Argos seem to do a good range, but I only know what I have read on this forum.

Not sure of the best place to buy a machine to be honest -there aren't many suppliers about - DID electrical in Airside (dublin) had them over christmas reasonably priced, brown thomas also has a nespresso boutique.

    Argos dont sell them

Beware...us nespresso drinkers aren't very welcome on this forum! :(

Of course you are, post away.

Why don't you start a thread to discuss which machines/pods/suppliers/etc. you'd recommend or avoid.

we have one at work, they're pretty good for an office as they provide decent quality coffee without the mess

Once more a dark shadow falls over the Coffee Forum...

    :D

    Just kidding.

Nespresso folk are most welcome here, just don't expect everyone to agree or sing the praises of the machine. Personally I think they make more sense than super-autos for someone who wants no fuss, no mess, no effort coffee. And from what I've seen they seem to have gotten the pod idea done better than the competition.

There is of course a world of relatively little effort coffee outside of any kind of espresso machine. For the price of a nespresso I'm sure you could buy a grinder (a good one - be sure to ask for advice) and a french press or drip cone etc. The reward for taking this route is opening up the coffee world to yourself like the wine world. Everything becomes available.

I'm sure a nespresso could fall under the 'hot beverage' category
    - same as tea and hot chocolate.

    ;)

The machines can be bought in most electrical stores.
Currys and DID definitely had them. Brown Thomas Dublin has them.
Others may also have them. They're widely available.

Go to nespresso.com to see the selection of machines.
I think the most basic is the Magimix Essenza.
You can see all the machines on the nespresso site.

The capsules can be bought online or in Brown Thomas Dublin and, I think Cork.
They cost €0.36 to € 0.38 per capsule.
If you buy online then post and packaging is extra.
The packaging cost falls with higher quantities.
If you buy in a store e.g. BT there is no post and packaging.

When you buy the machine you get a limited number of each flavour - I think one of each. Unless you have access to a BT store you will have to wait for delivery to get a decent quantity of capsules. The first few won't last if you have several coffee drinkers who want to try each flavour!

The nespresso site has a lot of info. It's a bit of a marketing thing. There are lots of accessories which can be bought if you want to immerse yourself in the nespresso experience.

Brown Thomas. They also have a €50 cashback offer on at the moment too afaik.

I have the Delonghi Latissima and i think it's a grand machine. There is nothing spectacular about Nespresso nor is there anything poor. I'm an avid coffee drinker and tbh some of the bad press you hear about Nespresso on this forum is complete rubbish based on hearsay, yes a grinder setup is ideal.

I had a Gaggia setup for years but when it unfortunately came to it's end i tried Nespresso and i haven't looked back. I use the Ristretto blend [Brazillian Arabica & East African Robusta] almost exclusively, it yields an above average espresso with no fuss a lot better than the muck that is served in half of the cafes in Dublin!

Look what I started, didnt realise nespresso was unpopluar amonst the die hard coffe lovers.
To be honest the main reason I am looking for one , is that I usually ony make enough coffe for the two of us so it seems a waste to make a pot for 2, although I know ur thinking I should make less.
Has anyone anythoughts on what coffe I should choose for my perculator.
I like strong coffe on the verge of expresso, something with a kick , thanks for yur help guys , hope I didnt offend the coffe forum

Ah, its just a bit of friendly banter:)

Everyone has their preferences. If someone does ask for opinions then they get them, good, bad or indifferent. Thats the point of the forum, no? :)

There is an electrical store in Kildare Outlet Village that sells a limited range of the machines too if you are near there.

I always get my pods in BT's for the reason outlined - it doesn't involve paying P&P costs, plus they sometimes throw in something extra; I got two boxes of chocolates the last time I was there. Of course if you're never in town, that option doesn't make sense.
