mate of mine spends €750 per month on an apartment that he shares with his mate, who also pays €750. this for me is crazy. he based it on the fact that he feels that you should pay 1/4 of your wages on Rent. this in my opinion is crazy. i spend about 10% of my wages on rent and thats it. so, what is the most important thing for you when deciding where to live?

for me, its the cost, with location (closeness to work) also as important. dont care bout any other factors really.

    1. Close to family
    2. Close to friends
    3. Close to work
    4. Cost

    In that order.

And there is space, sharing with 4 other people might be okay when you are 20, but it gets old after a while.

I only live where I live now because it's close to work. It's bloody inconvenient for everywhere else, and costs just over 25% of my income per month.

I refuse to pay more than I do for accommodation. Plus, I thought somewhere sh!te might make me move to somewhere better. Ha. Hahaha. Didn't work.

    1. It has to be a nice apartment in a safe, quiet leafy area
    2. Just outside the city centre
    3. Close to work for the OH
    4. Price range 800-1100e a month.

Although since living in this damp (yet cosy) shoebox my top priorities have become:

    - Not on the ground floor
    - Big windows
    - Must have a bath
    - Must have 3 seater couch
    - Washer/dryer on premises
    - Must have large wardrobes preferably with mirrors. I miss my full length mirror :(

    I've gotten kinda picky :p

Some people have no choice, and *have* to work. I find that in this situation, it is best to make all other things relating to work as comfortable as possible. In this case, convenience of travel to work, ie. not spending 2hrs on a cramped bus or train to and from work every day, becomes a vital issue.

This is why I intend to somehow, someday not have to work. (lol)

i live close to work in a shack with an ensuite for 180 a month.

not relatively great but when it comes to saving for the future it is indeed a good option. if it was a proper home many factors would come into play such as a decent place to raise family etc.. work would not be as heavily prioritized

I dont want to see kids on mangey horses with no saddles near my house. I dont want Avon calling. I dont want a hi-ace outside my house, with its owners trying to sell me a bit of carpet. I dont want people living under, over, or beside me.

Why? I just like my space, peace and security. With that in mind, Id rather pay out.
