Hi, I'm thinking of getting the NTL digital tv, broadband and phone option. Is it a reasonably good service? I know a few people who have the tv and the broadband service and the consensus seems to be that’s it ok while its working but pray you don’t have to call them.
Is their phone service up to scratch in terms of price and reliability?
(Sorry mods, not sure where else to put NTL question..)

I have broadband and analogue TV.
Can't fault the broadband for performance but I ended up re-wiring to the modem myself to make it reliable. The phone plugs into the back of the modem as well so I assume it will work as good as the internet.

One thing I wasn't happy with though was the wireless router they supplied (for an extra €25 I think). I bought a 10meg connection and they supplied a 5meg wireless/wired router . It's fine if I connect the desktop to it directly with a patch lead, this gets the full 10meg but I only get 5meg from the laptop over wireless.

Oh, and the free web storage / hosting they give you is a domain with the name of the bill payer on it - e.g www.joe.bloggs.upc.ie or something so it's not really usable as something you can host files / pictures on unless you want your real name to be public.

Personally I have the broadband and the TV and use Blueface for the phone. No line rental and cheaper calls.

    Exact same here.

I think NTL's service works out at €5/month, which isn't bad at all, but with blueface you can choose your package and your phone and once they're bought, that's it.

Very unreliable company, appalling customer service - avoid NTL like the plague.

Thanks for the comments folks. Tbh I'll think I'll go with it, options are fairly limited in my circumstances and it suits my current needs.
