Too sick for exams?

Hey, I was just wondering what's the best course of action to follow if you're too sick to sit your exams? I have a nasty case of the flu, and it's showing no signs of lifting, so I'm sort of freaking out over what to do!

If you defer semester 1 exams, does that mean you have to sit them in august? I'd appreciate someone's help with this!

    Thx!

You'll need a doctor's cert and fill out some forms from the registry.

Your best bet is to let your lecturer/head of school know as soon as possible. I had to defer an exam in final year due to a bad cold and my lecturer was very supportive.

You will have to re-sit in the summer if you defer but it will still count as your first sitting.

Talk to your lecturer though as you may be able to sit the exam and have your illness taken into consideration. I think there is a way to sit the exam now and the fail won't count as your first sitting if you fail due to illness.

Extenuating Circumstance form R-30. You;ll need a doctors note too. Your exams will be deferred to August unless of course your in 4th year then you'll have to wait another year. Email your personal tutor/year head/ program board chair/ whatever else title they want explaining your circumstance.

Hey, thanks for the responses. One quick thing, how do you go about getting a doctor's cert/note? I don't get sick very often, sorry for being so unknowledgeable about this!

When your back on your feet just drop into the doctor in college. Only €10 whereas elsewhere you'll be paying €50 upwards just for a note. The only thing id worry about is say your better next Wednesday should you miss half your exams and attend the other half. Are you expected to? Or just defer them all saying you were too sick to study for them hence getting a **** mark. Decisions Decisions, Id rather sit them all and use the sicknote as "consideration" towards my grade. Then again im in 4th year and NOTHING will stop me sitting these exams.

Well, I got a doctor's note. So, even if I sit the exams, I can use that if I don't perform as well as I would I could use it in conjunction with one of those forms or like, the extenuating circumstances one? Studying is a bitch when you're all feverish and stuff :P
