    Hi all,

I recently purchased a sony 32W4000 tv in belfast for £599 and was given parity by shop for my euro. Very best price down south is still 999euro!! (ripoff Ireland)

On saturday I sold the television for 700euro too a friend upon hearing prices of pioneers new awesome set !! When i was shopping around in Ireland the best price was 2000euro!!!

I am heading up on Thursday too collect it (brand new KRL-32V) in belfast for £899 !!!!! that is less than half price !!!!!

Could somebody in the business let me know why Republic of Ireland retailers charge so much compared too the north ??

I accept the vat difference is 6.5% and the sterling is very low but even if a pound was worth 1.3 or 1.4, that is still a big saving, rents are proberbly higher too, but its not comparable at all..

im in the business, it's not profiteering or ripoff dealers or any of that other §hite that we are accused of doing. we work with the same profit margins that the dealers in the uk & up north do. it is the suppliers who have yet to adjust their prices for the changes in currency, which in fairness some have. most prices will be going up in the uk to make up the difference in the price with euro & sterling, as the uk companies have to buy in euro from sony, panasonic etc so they are getting a bad deal, thats why prices are going to go up in the uk. and also the 6.5% difference in vat comes in and also the higher cost of living in ireland compared to other countries.

just on a side note, pioneer krl-32v is €1599 with a free dvd recorder worth €449 in alliance,

I will not embarrass the retailers who quoted me 2000euro!, one of them has now dropped their price to 1700,

I ended up getting the tv for £680 !! which is still way off compared to the prices down here !!!

I saw the prices there which are cheaper but the mickey-mouse sound system would not entice me in the least !
