If a gun says 380 or 450 fps with 0.2g. How could you get it to the 328 limit. How does the fps go down with heavier bb's? If you used a 0.25 or heavier how much of an effect does it have.

Also if you were to try change the spring does anywhere know where you would go to get one?

I dont have a rifle above this limit but I've seen a few online with great prices that are above our limit with 0.2g bb's. Is it illegal to import these. does the 328 fps 1J limit only apply with 0.2g bb's?

you can order some aeg from gunnerairsoft for eg and they offer a downgrade service thats if your going about the online way of ordering

in saying that if you was to drop in to Eirsoft the boys there sell perfect aeg's on the limit already downgraded for the irish market
the fps will drop slightly with heavier bb's but not by that much

    Yes one both accounts.

Anything that release more than 1J of energy at the barrel is classed as a firearm.

Have a look in this thread.

changing the BBs for heavier ones makes no difference,

The reason we say 328fps (feet per second) is the limit, is because a standard of .2gram (weight) BBs are used by most players and when chrono'ing.
The legal limit however is writen in Joules (a measurement of energy, not speed) and 1 Joule (the legal limit) is equal to 328fps with a .2gram BB.

1 joule with a .25 BB isnt 328fps like with the .2 gram, it is infact 293fps maximum. using .25bbs with a speed of 328fps will still be illegal and equates to 1.25 joules of energy.

as far as reducing the power, you'll have to ask the retailer your buying from to downgrade it before shipping it to you since if it gets stopped you certainly wont be getting it back. its only a matter of changing the spring out but with some guns its easier than others and for that reason a lot of the over seas retailers dont offer a downgrading service.,

Gotcha! thanks for that. I actually figured the 1J was more important than the fps. Oddly enough I was ordering from gunner Moggser. Didn't realise they done the downgrade service.

    Thanks for all the info.
