I have already referred to this in another thread but I thought maybe it deserves a thread of its own to get attention as people are quite keen to see any opportunities around.

We are currently looking for an IT administrator in Naas. The advert is attached. Hoping to start interviews early next week.

Any questions post them and I'll try my best to reply as quickly as I can.

Thats a 2nd tier role if I guess correctly.

Good luck with it. Unfortuantely in this environment you have a lot of the skilled workers moving away after any job losses.

You might actually find an IT shortage after all this.

Make sure you dont make the classic HR mistake and choose by their certifications! Experience is king.

    Hey
What kinda pay range is there?

    When would the candidate start?

How oven would the candidate travel between Naas and Killkenny?

Would there be any other travel involved?

    Would there be travel allowance?

Is there some probation period and then made permanent?

How many others are in the IT dept?

For someone is currently employed but looking to move closer to home job security would be king, is there any chance or this role evaporating 4 months in?

I'd imagine you'd get loads of applications for this type of role - no shortage of people out there who would like a job that offers the opportunity to get out of the office

I completely agree! Far too much emphasis is given to Microsoft qualifications. I have known guys with MCSE and/or MCSA who couldn't do the job!

If you can clarify some of these- I know a few people who might be interested.

I think a lot depends on the pay range. I have been jobs like this advertised with stupidly low wages.

On the other hand, there are a lot of skilled workers out there who did work hard to attain these certifications.

Usually, it´s the uncertified IT crowd out there that likes to undermine IT Certifications, because they cant be bothered to study, so they bank it all on "experience".

I would place my confidence on someone who has a mix of both experience and certifications.

    Neg as always

    When would the candidate start?
    ASAP

How oven would the candidate travel between Naas and Killkenny?
Own transport. Compensated mileage. You will travel to KK once every 2 to 3 weeks unless something comes up.

Would there be any other travel involved?
Very rarely but you will be part of a multinational, with HQ in Holland, So possible couple of trips a year, for not more than a day or two.

    Would there be travel allowance?
    yes

Is there some probation period and then made permanent?
Permanent role as I am moving to HQ

How many others are in the IT dept?
It will be you and only you. Therefore we need an all-rounder will take ownership of all area of IT in NuTec

For someone is currently employed but looking to move closer to home job security would be king, is there any chance or this role evaporating 4 months in?
This is a permanent role in a business that is preforming well though these tough times. I'm not going to promise anything but I wouldn't turn down this role on that basis. I do not see this role evaporating.
