I have a problem with my broadband at home in that. All of my ports in every room of the house used to work. Over the christmas sister got a new laptop was working fine for a week. Now for some reason it won't let us get onto websites. On the pc in the office and when using a laptop downstairs. However i can still get onto the internet in my room using my different laptop or ps 3. I tried plugging everything out and powering down but did not work. My ISP want to charge €99 for a call out. Has anybody any idea what might be the cause of this. Oh and the pc in the office says it's connected but it won't surf onto websites!

Can you get onto the internet from the port in your room using your sisters laptop?

Or can you connect for the ports in the office using your different laptop?

If you use the same internet for these then your connection is fine and no need to call your ISP out it looks like the internal network is borked in some way. What is the current set up of your network i.e. what cables connect to where and to what

All cables look to be connected to the main ISP box and then there are ports throughout the house, with the phone running off the port in the living room. We plugged the phone out to use her new laptop in there and was working fine for a few days. Then just went bust. Plugged phone back in and is working okay.

ok what sort of broadband do you have,
what sort of modem do you have,
what light are on the modem and which ones are lit when your computer is directly connected to the modem,
Do you know if you are getting an IP address and if possible do you know if you can ping the modem
