Batman Lego DS Savefile problem

Does anyone know how to delete the savefiles from Batman Lego on the DS? I want to give it to a friends son but need to clear the data first. I tried gamestop and they tried the cartridge in their DS but couldnt figure out how to do it either. All help appreciated asap as its the kids birthday tomorrow, thanks

I did a quick google, and it doesn't look like there is a delete option (very strange). Can you start a new game and overwrite the existing save game?

I have the game and cant seem to overwrite the game, there are 3 save files. Very strange!
