I'm looking this system for my PS3 and TV setup.

    http://www.peats.com/cgi-bin/catalog.cgi?view_product=1&id=25478

I'm planning to connect my PS3 through HDMI to this and my TV from receiver via HDMI. I mainly use the system for games and divx movies. Time to time, I listen MP3s.

What do you think about this system for price €285? Does it worth? Or is there better offer around?

If you have another idea, with other brand, please let me know. My budget is around €350. (I don't want to buy amp and speakers seperate. I want complete set with amp&speakers like Yamaha one.)

    Thanks.

It'll be fine, you won't get HD Audio though.

Actually, just make sure that the amp will take the Audio stream from the HDMI connection, otherwise you´ll have to run an optical cable seperately for audio.

Neireid is spot on there - that setup uses the Yamaha RX-V363 and the manual states that:
Audio signals input at the HDMI jack are not output from any speaker terminals but output from the connected video
    monitor.
To enjoy the sound from speakers connected to this unit,
–make an analog or digital connection besides the HDMI connection (see page 16).
–mute the volume of the connected video monitor.

So when using the PS3, connect a HDMI cable and a digital optical cable to the Yamaha and turn down the sound on the TV.

It's a decent enough setup for the price.

As Nereid says, this set doesn't give HD audio. Other comment also interesting. Actually after posting first message and finding HD thing, I've changed my mind. I'm thinking getting Sony HT-DDWG800 rather than Yamaha. I've seen comments about Sony on avforums and it seems this is better than Yamaha. It's priced €324, there is €40 difference but HD output and more HDMI inputs, etc.

And it seems only pixmania sells this one. Couldn't find this on Irish Online Stores and asked to powercity but no reply yet.

What do you think about Sony?

Excellent deal, I wonder would the extra 2 speakers (optional add-on for extra 80 squids) make much of a diff? Haven't heard Dolby EX/dts-ES outside of a cinema. hrmm hrmm

    Don't do this. :)

I've just decided to go for Sony, now I have to read reviews about Onkyo and may need to review my decision.

    djfattony2000,

The Onkyo 506 and the Tannoy SFX5.1 combined are £345 from Richersounds who have a forum here in the Biz/Commercial Interraction section and have earned themselves a great reputation for doing good deals for Boards members. I'd advise you to give them a try first, I'd be very surprised if you don't get a better overall deal than £370 delivered.....;)

fdgir, there's always something better further up a notch, there have been good reports on the Sony setup you mentioned and it's fair to say that the Onkyo/Tannoy setup would be a further noticeable improvement again, it's a bargain setup for well under €400.

    Thanks Ritz,

I did look at Richersounds website, have used them many times before, but they were coming in at £500 for the same setup.

I didnt realise they did deals for boards users, thats quite a saving!

Ill check out that forum now.
