Ok so myself and the ex broke up a while ago, over fairly stupid things.........i always presumed we'd get back together because well we loved eachother and we had no real reason not to be together. Now time has passed a lot has happened and well any chances of getting back together are gone. But problem is we talk a lot still. And well i think it's stopping both of us moving on. I just don't know what to do, i did the clean break and we got back in touch.....what should I do?

If its stopping you from moving on and its not going anywhere then you probably need to cut contact again. Ive done something similar before, & it can hurt cutting contact again, a bit like breaking up all over again, but in the end you need to do whats best for you.

Err. Do another clean break and this time DON'T contact him again.

Wow I was about to post the same thing ,me and my ex are over 6 months but she still says she loves me and likes hanging out together, cinema etc.I always thought wed sort it out but it doesnt look like happening.
Im now starting to feel like we shouldnt stay in contact as much as we do.It sounds like good advice to be giving you ,but its harder said then done, but dont shut him out of your life unless your sure you two have no chance together.
Conflicting advice there I know ,but its a messed up situation.

I think it's important to figure out how he feels in all of this. If you want to get back together then you should really have a chat.

He might be trying hard not to see you that way, but still does.

    Good luck.

That to move on, both of you need a clean break. nothing less.

    Hey Op,

It can really hard to break contact with someone you still have feelings for.

But in this situation I really do think its for the best. As you said its stopping you from moving on with your life.

Cut contact with him, you never know in a few months/years time you might be strong enough to speak to him again.

I think a conversation with him is in order first.

To just leave it is like the tired old cliche of someone going to the airport and you not realising you have to stop them until it's too late.

    Do a Ross Gellar!
