Hi can anyone who does this please pm me with details, as i am getting married in August 2nd and looking for someone to do the Flowers for us.

We do not wish to pay a fortune, and i am contemplating going to a florist and just asking for bunches of flowers and trying to do it myself as some of the quotes are ridiculous, they just treble it when they hear wedding.

    Any help would be great

    thanks in advance

    Hi Fi,

I used a florist based in Rathmines shopping centre and she was excellent value. She provided my bouquet, 5 bridesmaids, 2 motherinlaw bouquets, 8 mens buttonholes and 3 coursages all for around €350. She was lovely to deal with and did exactly what I wanted. If you want to see pictures, let me know and I can pm you. Her company is online also but I can't recall their website. I'll go looking for it if you're interested.

    Hi Fi,

The address is Stems.ie. However, it doesn't show a huge range so I'd recommend calling into Rathmines to get a better idea of what they do. She'll do absolutely anything you want. Sorry but I can't remember her name.

Blatent advertising but you could give my mam a call...

    Abby Flowers in Clondalkin
    01-4576044... Ask for Catherine

She'll specialises in weddings. She'll work around ur budget. Once you don't ask for flowers for a bride, bridesmades, groom and groomsmen for €25 as she was before Christmas :-P

i can highly recommend Arthur in Skerries Florist, he is excellent. Does beautiful stuff, and can fit to your budgt - he can do very traditional or also modern, and he has a fantastic flair. The price will always depend on what flowers you choose, but he honestly is good. My sis is a florist, but not wedding, and he is her friend so getting him - I'll dig up a number later.

Personally I wouldn't recommend doing it yourself - like I said my sis is and my mam was a florist and honestly it is NOT as easy as it looks - you could end up wasting money. Might be better to pay a little bit more and have them right, than save €100 and be really disappointed or end up with wilted sad looking little stems.

Thank you all so much i will try a few of these numbers... i know i have to pay a bit but i will not pay anywhere near €350 i think id pay up to €300, but probally expect a bit more for it, as the prices do inflate when they hear the word wedding!

yes the word wedding seems to go hand in hand with the concept of price increase! lol

but seriously, a good florist really is a skill, so if you find a good one at a price you can afford then it is worth it. Some of them aren't as good as they make out - I know a lot of them can only do traditional bouquets in a mould, on the foam - my mam trained for years and did oodles of training and used to wire each individual flower with fine wire and then literally build or engineer the bouquet! it would take hours but the difference was clear to see.

Get recommendations for sure, and if you are in Nth dub area, I can honestly recommend Arthur - I'll be using him myself, and with mam's training I am not an easily impressed customer, and he impresses me no end! and that really is high praise coming from me! lol
