Noticed that the TR has put out a listing of vehicles suitable fo use as taxis/hackneys, well what do the great unwashed public think,? I'll tell you I was amazed at some of the cars that actualy failed the new critera, Volvo S60 and the Peugeot 407 among them....

Some of the cars neither pass nor fail such as the VW Phaeton. I'd have thought that would be the ideal taxi. Large, comfortable, well built and not as expensive as its Mercedes counterpart.

We should take this list to the ranks, confiscate the ****e parked in the them and demand they all drive 2009 S-Class mercs.

I see the 1988 toyota corolla thats driving in Limerick does not feature on the list. I always refuse this taxi and get in the taxi behind.

No rear seat belts, no air bags, no abs, NO FARE from me.

Also the grim reaper dodger driving it leaves no room for mistake.

Doesn't have "shoulder width" box filled in. Probably couldn't find one to measure.

Surely if you're going to address the great unwashed public you should've posted to the "Dublin County North" forum ?

You're citing the absence of safety feautures as a turn off for this car - personally I think the fact that this car has probably seen massive mileage since 1988 and is still goiong says alot that if it wasn't hit in the last 20years you're probably alright in it...

Imagine how many arses have been across its back seats!?

Welcome to the modern day world of taxiing in Dublin, driven by a TRs office that doesn't know it's arse from it's shoulder.....:)

Just scanned through it, but why would a subura Forester fail on Luggage capacity? not saying its a good taxi, but failing on the only strength it has??

Yep you'd qualify, even without the car :) of course that's based on the assumption being represented in your post that all taxi drivers are scumbags..

BTW a 1998 BMW 5 Series wouldn't actualy pass out as a taxi by reason of age ...sorry
