Dell Laptop Monitor Frame Cracked

    Hey guys,

As the description says, the 'lid' of my laptop has developed a crack - not at the hinge but in the side of the monitor frame close to the hinge. The result is that it'd difficult to close the laptop, as the left side of the screen does not pivot around the hinge, but around the crack (about 1cm above hinge).

I suppose what I'm asking is whether anyone here has experienced similar, and whether it's possible to replace the plastic frame which surrounds the (perfect) lcd screen?

Check ebay. You should be able to buy second hand plastics to repace yours.

Thanks, will do. Is 'monitor frame' the right terminology? Because http://www.parts-people.com do plastic fornt covers but I don't know if that includes the inner plastic frame or the full rectangular outer plastic...

Front Bezel is what i normally look for. Other probably may call it something else.

Sorry to bring this up again, but I've managed to find a front bezel on ebay. If I order a plastic back cover, I should be good to go right? I mean it's not more complex than that is it?

Should be straight forward. Whats the model of laptop. We can tell you how hard it will be to change.

    Very straight forward.
Remove panel between keyboard and hinges. Should just clip away, starting from the righ hand side.
Remove 5 screws from around front bezel. They are covered by rubber bungs.
Pull away bezel. It will still be held together with plastic clips.
Back of monitor will be screwed to LCD frame
