Just saw a trailer for Seven Pounds starring Will Smith. Don't know, don't care about the movie.

There was a disclaimer in subtitles on the screen saying "Contains intense emotional scenes".

I've noticed these inceasingly over recent years regarding sex and violence, but "intense emotional scenes?". Jesus, The Champ might never have seen the light of day!

Are the movie-going public this precious?

Please move if this is the wrong forum.

The most excessive I've ever seen is 'contains mild peril' for the Wild Thornberrys Movie many years ago, when these warnings were new. Whatever about intense emotional scenes, if any parent would balk at their children watching a film because their were very minimal levels of peril involved (probably standing beside a caged tiger or something - risky business!), they are being a wee bit overprotective. 'Moderate threat' is another common one which we could probably do without.

The last Harry Potter had some 'mild peril' too. It might be alright for parents bringing their young kids to see it but "Contains intense emotional scenes" is a bit of a piss take tbh. Sounds very American.

Mild Perily Necklaces, I could understand though.

"Look, let me go back in there and face the peril."
    "No it's too perilous!"

    :p

Its something that is taking over all walks of life justnow.

I bought Little Big Planet on the PS3 recently which bears the symbol for Violence on the ratings.

Or has anyone seen the Malibu advert with the guy cycling?
That has words to the effect of Please cycle responsibly on it....

In fairness, it's not about their over-protective-ness, it's about their stupidity.

Balls.. I noticed that "Contains intense emotional scenes" disclaimer on the Seven Pounds trailer last week and thought I must make a thread whining about it on Boards.

    Warning: Contains movie scenes.

Don't worry about it, those messages are just for Americans. Like "Contains Nuts" messages on packages of peanuts,

I really hate this ****, honestly the people who think this **** up should just top themselves now if they see warnings like these are important part of peoples lives. Someone mentioned a milk carton the other day saying "warning: contains milk" and a bag of nuts saying "warning: may contain nuts"

I mean seriously, wtf is wrong with people
