Powercity were doing 1metre HDMI cables for €8 in the sales - not sure what price they are now. Peats also of course do them at a higher price. You might even get one in an extravision as they sell ps3/xbox accessroies.

    €4.99 is more expensive?

Can anyone tell me if there's any difference between a cheap 10 euro HDMI cable and the real espensive Monster HDMI cables for about 100 snots ? Can you actually see any difference ? Has anyone seen the two side by side ?

What they have on their website doesnt always match what they have in the store and the OP asked for a place in Dublin - not an internet option. Usually they are the more expensive option in my experience.

There can be a slight difference.

Notably "gold" connectors on the Monster. These have the advantage of not corroding when different metals touch. Of course this assumes gold connectors on your source and destination devices.

Personally, on a short run, you won´t notice in terms of Picture or Audio quality

Just to clarify - i am looking for an actual physical shop in dublin or any good internet site - some of the ebay stuff looks dodgy.
When selecting a HDMI cable for home use (short runs <2m) do i need to ensure cable is 1080p capable and compliant with 1.3b spec or is this just a load of blurb engineered to extract more cash from you? All i need is a bunch of cables for connecting 1080p TV to bluray, sky +, xbox 360 etc. Will a basic cable suffice? If anybody can recommend a good internet site or dublin shop then that would be great. i tried scan.co.uk but they seem to only send to uk addresses and amazon.co.uk marketplace sellers are mostly the same.

That can apply to any shop, including powercity. Parnell street, college green, blanchardstown and rathmines......... I'm sure one of them would have that cable in stock.

Yes - if you can get the €4.99 ones mentioned as being in Peats they'll do just fine.

    Kintaro Hattori,

If the HDMI cables are available in store in Peats at €4.99 then that's a good deal - however for one cable Peats charge €14.00 delivery in Ireland when ordered online, which is pretty steep. Powercity do apply discounts/special offers with some items ordered online, but they also show what stock is available in each store and you have the option of collecting the item from the store yourself. Your reaction to Morlar's comment is not helpful.

    Ritz.

Argos do a 1/2 Meter one for about €5 and its decent enough.

That particular one didn't work for me. I returned it for another one.

The picture was washed out, and it did not transfer the DTSMA properly. Probably down to the poor connectors that did not seat securely on the PS3 or amp.

The next one, I think philips, works flawlessly and is 1m long.
