    Partial blu-ray of death?

Are you using a hd tv or an sd tv?

Blu-rays won't work on my 26 inch HDTV.

If its hd, try it on sd, and vice versa.

Try resetting the ps3 video output settings to scart and use that. See if you can play DVDs in sd.

Try and reset all PS3 settings in System Settings, not just the video settings.
