    Hi

    My wife has an english provisional licence can she use it to start taking lessons here or does she need to get an irish provisional first

    She needs an Irish provisional first. She'll need to do the theory test (and pass it!) before she can get her provisional.

    PS: if ye're in Cork city, it might be worth booking the test in Youghal or Macroom if the Cork city waiting list is too long.

    There is no such thing as a Provisional Licence anymore - its a Learner's Permit.

    Learner's Permits tend to only be valid in the country of issue.
