I'm not sure, but yesterday passing by GameStop shop in Dun Laoghaire saw a poster saying €130 for Xbox 360 pro, save €100, something for Xbox 360 elite. Couldn't read whole thing, so it's maybe a trick, but worth checking. Not interesting myself as already have one.

Probably exchange to get that price, with at least the requirement of a Xbox 360 Premium, 75 games of more than a €20 value, 2006 Audi A4, your first-born and an Wispa Gold.

    Gamestop are teh crap!

I saw that poster, think it's only if you trade in a Wii or something along those lines.

    LOLs!

I remember trying to get a discounted Xbox 360 from them by trading in my old Xbox. The offer required I trade in about 4 games - no problem, right? Except the games had to be for the 360, or the PS3. WTF? Clearly I don't have a 360 or a PS3!

    Spanners.

Could be mistaken, but think you have to sign up a broadband package to get it at that price.

I'd love a wispa gold now..

Its if you trade in a DS and 3 ds games they will "give" you a premium console for €130

They are indeed comedians when it comes to valuing product alright.

I'm not a hardcore gamer by any means, (Im not even a 'regular' gamer, to be honest) but, long story short, I have an Xbox 360, and I turn it on when I have some spare time, and on Thursday I stepped into our local gamestop for the 1st time with 3 games (The Simpsons, PGR 4 and Circle of Doom) to trade in for store credit to put against a new game.
(The 3 games were, incidentally, retailing at €24.99 each USED in gamestop on the day, so for me to buy them second hand there would cost me €74.97 )

I approached the counter cheerfully and was told my 3 games together were worth.....

€3.00 cash or €6.50 store credit.

Now I wasn't expecting Recession beating rewards, but I thought I knew the score on exchanges, and I'd at least hit near to low double figures for my trouble...

I kept my 3 games and bought myself Turning point & COD4 from Game.co.uk instead for a combined price of just over £30 including delivery. They arrived this morning, and Im F*cked if Gamestop are getting them when Im finished.

    Thieves. €3.00 me bollix.

    Thieving bástards they are
similarly I tried to trade assasins creed not long after it was released (i think its pants) and while they were selling it for €45 in the used games sections they kindly offered me €6.50 for it!

I will never trade my games to them. Probably get a much better price selling them on ebay and at least you know thats its probably another gamer buying it than a greedy company.....

BTW the other offer was a premium console for €50 if you trade in a Wii and 2 Wii games

Out of interest.. which 3 games were they?

Also... on a similar note... I actually made loads of money trading with Gamestop... I asked gamestop the trade-in prices on a ton of games and found that at one point they offered €29 for Surfs Up, and €33 for Jericho Premium (the one in the shiny box).

Then I checked play.com and their prices for surfs up were £14, and Jericho premioum for £18.

Needless to say, I bought about 50 of each and traded them all in... Hellooooo rock band, xbox 360 and lots of other stuff.

Of course, this was when play.com sold to us in sterling.

Nice work if you can get it, I suppose, however, there'd be a note of caution required there for anyone thinking of making a quick buck : I was discussing my situation with a friend and he said that late last year he had bought a PS3 Game from Sendit which cost him €29 on special offer. He rang gamestop to check on trade in prices the week after it arrived and was told that it was worth €41 store credit.

Thinking the same as you, he planned on buying a couple more to get himself a free game, but when he went down the following day to do the initial exchange on the copy he had, the value had dropped to €22 credit.

They aint totally thick, they watch the market, and prices can and do change overnight to suit gamestop.
