    Hi guys,

This board was recommended to me by another user on rollercoaster. Basically my sony vaio is on a complete go-slow. I originally thought it was just full of old programs (a lot of which I uninstalled) & that was the cause of it being slow but then I realised I'd gotten a virus. I downloaded Spyware Doctor & firefox as I thought the problem was with IE (in safe mode) & it found 580 errors, I paid up for the full version so it would remove them which it did.
I followed a lot of good advice from rollercoaster which did get me places but now we're all at a loss.
I can only access the internet now through safe mode logged on as administrator. I did a system restore (which wiped spyware doctor!) & followed the steps outlined in the "so you think you have a virus" thread. I got as far as superanti spyware but i can't download it in safe mode as administrator. I downloaded it on my husbands latop & tried copying it over but I may have done something wrong as it's only a shortcut on memory stick!
So at this stage the laptop is working fine in safe mode as administrator but that's the only way I can get onto it. I also have McAfee & in the early days of investigating this I discovered that windows firewall was turned on & my anti-virus was turned off, now there is no way I would turn off my anti-virus. One scan using Malware found a trojan proxy which I removed but I'm wondering is there any way to fix this problem.
All scans I've done since then have come back clear. (McAfee & Malware)

I'm sorry for the long post & have probably left something out but I'm really desperate to get this fixed a.s.a.p. TIA Mairead
