Ears / Hearing

Hi all. I can't find any forum/thread devoted to this. I'd like it to be a place where we can discuss our difficulties, hearing appliances, work situations etc etc.
For years I thought my hearing wasn't too bad but last year I had a windfall and went to a hearing aid specialist and discovered I have only 25% in right ear and 30% in left ear. So I am now the proud owner of two hearing aids and do you know what...? My confidence levels have gone through the roof, so much so that I am now returning to study.
    Over to you.....

Well first of all, welcome to A&M&D! Posting here is a bit sporadic as you may have already noticed, but it sounds like you've found the forum most relevant to your thread topic.

Perhaps there might be some interesting reading over in Science too?

i have some minor hearing issues which i've yet to properly address. Over the past 18 months or so, i've noticed an impairment in one ear, but as it's not major and seems to have stopped advancing. Due to this and my inherent laziness, i've not bothered to go about it (bar mentioning it in passing to my Consultant).

One of these days i'm going to book myself in for a full audiometry assessment though, as early onset deafness is a common side effect of my condition :(

I have some experience in this field and would advise anyone who feels they might have a hearing problem to visit a qualified audiologist and to NOT get a test done by a hearing appliance salesman. They are on stringent sales targets and only think in terms of profit.
