Rollar Derby - maddest 'sport' ever!!?

    Hi all,

    i saw a documentary last night called Jam http://www.jamthemovie.com/
    and then i went off and did some research on this sport and it's MAD!!!! fascinating but totally MAD!!

    (a part of me really wants to set up an irish female team - teamed with girls who have a rockabilly/pin-up/cyber-punk look!! :D )

    i'm going to visit a mate in san fran in the autumn and i am totally going to see if i can get to go to a match!!

    is anyone here into this sport? or am i really odd?!?

    Think I remember seeing a roller derby on one of that MTV show where the people go on blind dates and get money based on how long the date lasts and then at the end can decide to take the money or go on another date with the person... think it was called Ditched or Dumped or something.

    Anyway, looked deadly I wouldnt definetly go to watch a match :D

    it seems crazy violant, which would usually turn me off a sport but this is just awesome!! sorta like gladiators on wheels on a track!!

    wonder if any boardsie has ever been to a game?

    went in cali..............ya cant describe it.... like the only word that really doz it mad!! its crazy unpredictable fast paced.... give ya hunger to see more

    Hi. I've been to a few roller derby practices in England and would love to be a derby girl. There is no league or team in Ireland but it would be easy to set one up. If enough people are interested we could get a team together. P.S There is a new roller derby film out soon, Whip it with drew barrymore so maybe that will raise the profile of the sport.
