I'm not very hopeful but I'll ask anyway.

My two year old decided he would wash his seven year old brothers DS Lite. Is there any hope it might work again?

It hasn't worked since it happened which was yestersday evening. I was hoping a couple of days drying might bring it back to life or maybe I'm wasting my time.

    Anyone experienced anything similar?

    It could.

Best you know in future if he washes other stuff! -you should NEVER turn electronic things on that have been wet. If possible you should remove the battery immediately too. You can cause short circuits which can break it, while if it was left competely dry with no power attempting to go through it then it could be fine.

I dried out a phone fine which was soaked, and my father had tried turning it on.

Also a mates kid similarly washed his PSP and it came back.

I would leave it on the radiator with a towel as a buffer so even and lessen the heat. In woodies you can get special crystals for drying out damp walls, this is best as it requires no heat. You put the crystals in an airtight box, like a lunch box, then have the DS raised above them. They crystals absorb the moisture out of it.

When you turned it on after it was washed you might have blown the fuse of it.

But TBH Its more than likely the damage is irevierable, but its worth trying anything you can to get it going again.

I fix DSs if you're interested in trying to get it fixed send me a pm.

    Thanks for the reply people.

I wasn't here when the washing incident happened but herself did try and turn it on after. I removed the battery overnight and put it in a towel like you said. This it turned on for a minute or so and was making a high pitched sound. However it's not working at all now. I will attempt that crytal solution suggested.

Witnessmenow, I will probably take you up on that offer if the other suggestions do not work. I'll leave it for a couple of days and see where that gets me.

    Thanks again.

If it is dead dont just bin it, there are a lot of hobbiest, amateur repairers out there willing to spend a couple of quid on a punt to get it working, and the official nintendo charger will be worth a few quid on auction sites! ;)

A word of advice : Get insurance on the next one! Game will insure it for 2 years against accidental damage for 20 euros if you buy it there.
