Interest in mini-seminar

    Hi all-

Recently I have gotten to know an instructor from the UK who has taught police in the UK, US and on the continent. His material deals with issues in and around conflict situations and how to be safer at work.

I'm trying to get a sense of whether there would be any interest in a mini-seminar with him, date yet to be arranged, somewhere in the DMA when he is next in the country. This would be open to members of AGS or any members of the Defense Forces, DFB or ambulance service who would like to attend. The idea would be that it would be a small closed-door seminar, suitable for anyone interested in trying a new approach to this type of material. This event would be unnofficial and for personal interest only.

If members (or guys or girls from the other organisations mentioned) think they'd be interested in attending then if they PM me I can give them more information. Apologies for the lack of info in this post, but I'm mainly gauging interest at the point so there's precious little to put up to be honest.

Sounds interesting. Interesting to see what's practiced in other countries too.

    Good luck!

Be interested to find out who the gent in question is myself seeing as how he's supposed to have taught UK police......you'd be amazed how often you hear that, yet I don't get refresher classes with too many non-police types.

Please send me some details and I'll see if I'm interested.

Can you give a more detailed outline of the course?

    Quick question:

Are the instructors initials JS or JH?

There's been a big one recently where a guy stated he trained us and several other Met units on his website...all of which was bollix... not saying this guy's like that, but as said, it's rare outsiders officially 'train' Police...

Anderton, is this going to be post 1 of 3 for 2009? :p

But yep, outsiders don't train job officially. So Scramble, spill it.

    Lads,

No take-up from anyone on the forum, which is fine. If this goes ahead it will just be a more casual affair.

I don't feel any particular need to vet the instructor in question through you, so I don't think I will.

Fair enough fella. However, might I suggest that if you furnished a bit more info I think you might have quite a bit of interest from the forum here. Not really rocket is it?

Long story, but lost a bit of faith in this forum a while back for a couple of reasons... Limiting my interferance..:D

Wasn't asking to vet him, just wondering do we know him. Afterall, in that kind of business, it's word of mouth that gets the interest.

    Second that.

I asked you to send me some details, It would be nice to have some info on who your talking about before I would commit to a seminar . Then I'll make up my mind if I'm interested.

If you're not going to provide any more information on the seminar & the instructor then you shouldn't be surprised.

I didn't mean for this to be contentious in any shape or form, sorry for the confusion. I lurk here but prefer not to participate in most of the discussions- and I guess I was unclear in my initial post.

I am happy to provide more information to people interested in attending, but I prefer to do it via PM as opposed to putting details on the open forum.

If this is problematic and mods want to delete or lock this thread that's fine.
