I was just wondering, Is it legal to buy a 200mW laser online, And have it shipped to Ireland.

It would not be used for anything illegal etc.

I have learnt it is legal in the United Kingdom.. So if it is not legal I will get it shipped to Northern Ireland

The US has a restriction of 5mW on lasers, but I'm not aware of any legal implication in Ireland.

You can get them on dealextreme and I think in the forums there I saw discussions (might be just for UK laws). But DX sometimes state where they are allowed themselves, saves them the hassle of returns & customs.

Yes, I would buy it from dealextreme :P

According to UK law, You can operate/use them, But not sell them IN the uk, So buying them from DX [Hong Kong] would be OK as it is not in the UK.

Speak of the devil, I got a package from DX dismorning, I have to go the post office to pick it up.. TOMORROW?? surely if you had it at my door and I was asleep, Why do I have to wait another 30 hours to get it :/

Cos the postman doesn't leggit back to the sorting office with your parcel straight away, they keep it with them till they're finished their deliveries for the day and then bring all of their undelivered post back to the sorting office :)

There's only 1 post office though, And it's frickin' tiny :(

I'm sure when he finishes his round, He could just give the post to the P/O..

I mean, I got a package from RTE 2 years ago when I lived in Drogheda, And could pick it up the next hour..

A lot of DX stuff is sent by registered post. I know some reg post can be "signed for" by the postman, not sure about theirs, I get all my stuff sent to work.

Even if it is not meant to be registered they sometimes will sent it anyway.
