Hey. I was wondering about the society grants from the Central Societies Committee. Do they usually give you the full amount to cover the expenses of the society or do they just give half.

It depends. They grant a limit of expenses that can be claimed for. So if you're getting a guest in for a talk they might refund a hotel up to €x, a meal for them up to €y, etc.

If you are in a society pop up to the office to talk to Lucy. Or that Rob Kearns fella who is CSC Secretary isn't a bad sort either.

Rob Kearns is a cunt, don't ask him. He'll only start laughing at you and then he'll whip his lad out and start pissing on/at you. Seriously.

Depends on the society and the activities in question. From my experience, the CSC will not provide much in the way of "refreshments" but will certainly help out with speakers' expenses and other such outgowings. And Rob Kearns is ultra nice.

I read that in an article in the record once. It was a very factual expose on the life and times of a typical ex Sabbath. Apparently Kearns suffers from CPS (chronic pissing syndrome) resulting in him "wiping out his lad" as you put at the most in opportunity moments. The most embarrassing of which was at a recent CSC ball where Emma Strokes was accepting an award only to be met by the great golden shower-er, much to the bemusement of onlookers. Kearns latter received a solid paddling in Stokes's chambers. The point being, its a condition, and as such not something you should hold against the man. In time you will grow to appreciate his eccentricities and even admire his apt aim and thickness of flow.

If you're starting up a new society talk to Rob. Regards grant applications, talk to Nick.

Thanks for the info. I'm treasurer for a society and I was a little miffed when i saw that the grant would only cover half our expenses which weren't that high.
