I'm interested in doing the plasma and vacumn technology course in DCU as it looks pretty interesting but does anyone know what kind of job you could get out of it and is there any companies in Ireland? I googled it but cant find anything.

Hi Abi, hope you're well. I'm currently doing a PhD in physics at DCU and was thinking about that masters before going for the PhD. It has a heavy focus on industrial physics and would well prepare you for working in industry in Ireland and other European countries. Companies that hire graduates from that program would probably include Intel, HP, Dell etc etc. Now that there's a recession it may be a good time to further your education then by the time Ireland is coming out of it we'll have a highly skilled workforce ready for the technology sector.

    Hope that helps,
    Joe

Presumably it is closely related to chip fabrication, which is a big industry especially in Ireland.

Hi warmaster, its acutually and undergrad cert, I have a science degree already so I might get an exemtion in some of the subjects. I think the course looks good but its the jobs after that i'm interested in.

Hi Abi, if you have a degree already why go for the udnergrad cert? A Masters would presumably be the nedxt step in your qualifications since the undergard cert assumes that you don't have experience with science and a lot of it you would have done already hence wasting a lot of your time and possibly money if you're paying full fees, if you get a grant at all why not go for the MSc?

i have an ord level degree, I cant go back to college full time due to other commitments. I tried it this year but it didn't work out. I need to do an add on honors degree part time before I can do a masters but I cant seem to find any.
