saturday evening tv has been crap since gladiators (the original) and catch phrase were taken off the air.

    It's painful alright.
The screen graphics and the stage would suggest it's an old 80's show.

It does have Denise Van Outen though

I miss countdown and deal or no deal. :(

Agree, Who Dares Sings is excruciating viewing. That being said I still think the Lyrics Boards (the Irish version especially) was a million times worse. Words cannot express how much I despised that show:mad:

"The Lyrics Board" or possibly "Shafted"

BTW if anyone has the clip from The Lyrics Board where some blonde bint is singing Suzanne Vega's song Luka with a big smile on her face could you please post. It's possibly the most cringe-worthy thing I've ever seen on television.

I has forgotten about shafted :D

That Dara O'Briain robot thing was pretty bad.

It was actually originally an Irish show. The two guys who devised it went on to make a fortune selling it around the world. It was particularly big in Finland, iirc.

I'm surprised Don't Forget The Lyrics hasn't got a mention yet. Dear god, I won't even start on that show.

Even worse - anyone got the '80s clip of Twink dressed up as Tina Turner singing Private Dancer?

Is "who dares sings" Irish or English ?

If it's English, someone should give TV3 a kick up the arse; the odd gameshow from the UK is OK to have on, but showing talent[less] crap from other countries ? Ant & Dec gameshows that claim "we could be in your town" (they won't be, so the impact of those stay-tuned, forward-selling statements is completely lost) and "call us now and you could win" (we can't, so that's another segment half-wasted, etc, etc....

This sort of rubbish used to be the remit of those "world's worst tv" compilation shows, or as fillers overnight when very few people were watching.

Why is it now considered good enough for prime-time TV ?

Ah there have been worse, anyone here old enough to remember an RTE sitcom from the early 80s about some flat dwellers? Not "Nothing to It" (early Pauline McGynn) that was okay all things considered.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,442 ✭✭✭Firetrap

RTÉ has produced some woeful sitcoms

Extra Extra (I think it was called) - thing set in a newspaper office.
    The Cassidys
That thing with the family who won the lotto...can't remember the name of it but the dad out of it was in Ballykissangel as one of the gombeen handymen
    Leave it to Mrs O'Brien
    Bull Island
    Killinascully

If you think Murphy's Micro Quiz M was bad, I thought Where in the World was worse!
