In this day and age how did they think they were going to get away with it?
Like they were ever going to just sail away as the many countries Navy's just floated there doing nothing.

    Silly pirates

    Coincidence? I'm guessing not!

lol They plonkers should have known.

As soon at the pirates were separated from those they were holding, it was then open season on them.
    - if of course, it wasn't pure coincidence that they were just sunk by natural reasons. lol

Apparently the place where they live on land is full more of the same than an actual police force, etc.

With $3,000,000.00 they couldnt even buy a decent boat that floats. Tight b*stards.

It was only 5 that drowned out of dozens of pirates. Still fair play to the other pirates. I don't understand why the navy just didn't open fire on all the boats that the pirates were getting away in. If I rob a bank, the police aren't going to just stand by and watch me go home.

I don't see why the authorities don't use these situation as practice for their assault/commando teams. I'm sure a well trained government military unit could easily storm these vessels, securing the hostages and dealing with the pirates.
Whatever happened to not negotiating with terrorists (the term for anyone bad these days)?!

Thats a government policy, private companies with $100,000,000 worth of oil at stake have no such policys.

Make that $250,000,000 when you take into account the ship's value too. Plus you can't just storm a ship and risk scattered gunfire when it's loaded with crude oil!

    $3m? meh

Seems to me Chuck Norris did them a favor. Them pirates would have had to do maths to split the booty among so many scallywags it would have exploded their brains.

I know a lad that's a commanding officer on an u-boat. He says that they are often on missions monitoring this type of activity and drug smuggling. I'd say the pirates probably got torpedoed!
