    Hey all,

I want to plan a winter sports trip in late Feb - any recommendations of places to go? A good nightlife is more important than quality of slopes / runs. Was previously in Livigno and somewhere similar would be go, but without the hellish 5 hour transfer from airport to resort!

    Thanks :)

im just back from Kaprun, in Austria and i love it, for nightlife i would reccomend Zell Am See though, it is the next town over, ski passes do for both and there is free ski busses every 15 mins to half an hour! its a great place to ski, and cheap drink!!! lol and its under 2hours from the airport! if your booking everytinh sepperalty you can just get a bus in the airport as chrystal run buses, or a train goes direct to Zell and its €25 return, where as a bus is €50 return but you need to book the return journey during the week. and if its a early flight back the bus is prob a better idea!!!

I'll second Zell am See, other resorts I've been to worth considering would be St Anton or Val d'Isere. Austria generally is good for apres ski.

Anyone got a recommendation of a good place to start looking for package holidays? Budget / Falcon or is there somewhere with the same range but cheaper?

You could try Directski.ie, you might get some late deals with tour operaters around now, but generally they are a rip off and your best to cut them out and book everything yourself, works out cheaper in the end.

Or even better still, try directski.co.uk. It is the exact same website/same deals etc only difference it lists all the english airports to travel from and the prices are quoted in sterling. if you pick to fly from belfast(once you dont mind the trip up), you pay the sterling price. I know the euro is not as strong as it was against it the last few weeks but it is still 1euro to about 89/90p I think, so you will still make a 25%approx saving on the holiday from the listed price on the Irish site. They have a 50% sale on all france destinations at the mo aswell as far as I know. Plus by paying by card online, you dont loose any money to commission etc when changing money and what not!
    Happy skiing:D

I'm off to Kirchberg in a weeks time... anyone been there before? I've been to Westendorf a few times and the skiing around there is great but the night life is a bit weak. What about Kirchberg?

Whats Zell am see like in relation to pas de la casa regarding nightlife?

Ive been to a good few places but id have to say pas had the best so im just tryig to compare the resorts for future visits.

Whats would peole consider the best austrian resort?

I booked a trip to Oberstdorf in Germany over the last few days, I was there last year but only for a short time, so I can't comment much on the night life. I did have a really good night in the Irish bar though.

Pas del la Case is nothing compared to the big Austrian resorts like Saalbach and St. Anton. The resorts in Andorra are catered more towards beginners, if your a beginner then Andorra is fine, also the night life its pretty good in Andorra, nothing that Austria cant top though. If you feel like moving up a level from Pas i would go to one of the resorts in Austria i mention above, there a loads more resorts in Austria, i just know some about those two.
