Unfortunately it's the same basic story as last week. Bottled it in the last 15 minutes. Final result: 17-14.
Keatley scored all the points but missed 4 sitters, 2 penalties, 1 conversions and 1 DG. Really just not up to international standard yet, missed the kicks that matter.
14-3 up with 20 minutes to go, dominated majority of the match, the ref didn't help the final result according to the radio commentator.

Sums up our season really

This one was definitely our own fault.:o
Still, at least the results will be pleasing to the suits at HQ.:mad:

I didn't see the game, but maybe a bit harsh on Keatley? He put Munster and Leinster away with a nerve of steel and was superb in those games.

Maybe it's an epedemic of Connacht rugby that they can't get up for the bread and butter games?

I don't mean that as disrespectful, the opposite in fact, I said at the start of the season that Connacht would be the surprise package this year, and the reason I said it is because they have a proper squad for the first time and are a very decent team. They've only managed to prove my point against home teams though for some reason. If that squad stays together for a few years they will be a mid table Magners team minimum and will play HEC group rugby.

Not bad from where they're coming.

Although from a selfish point of view I hope it's done without Keatley, you can keep the rest, we'll even swap Sexton :o

(although he will be off to GP at the end of next season - I expect Keatley to have one more year at Connacht and then go home - same time Sextons contract runs out and Contepomi will be in France)

Was at the game and the original comment was spot on certainly the two penalties shouldn't have been missed not by a kicker let alone one with the talent he's shown in recent games.

We definitely lost it ourselves though, threw it away in the second half with the missed kicks, particularly the one to level the game with 5 minutes to go and screwing up the basics like not getting touch.

well it sounds like a tough night for Keatley, in his defence its been 3 or 4 games since any other player has scored....bit too much pressure on him.
he's definetly not the finished article but given time he'll develop into a very good player

According to reports today he took a well taken try also, ran a good line and had lots of pace to get there. This guy could develop into the whole package, who knows.

I don't blame Keatley for the misses. The wind was atrocious. We need to close out matches.

P.S Was Stephen Jones quiet or what?

Highlights on Setanta now... Incredible try from Keatley!!!

Connacht tackling was beyond embarassing for Jones' try.

Look, Keatley had a poor game. It happens. It's a shame.

He missed some fairly easy kicks, including the DG at the end which was right in front of the posts. That said, he scored ALL of our points for the last three games! Maybe he's feeling the pressure of of being the sole "bread-winner" in the team.

His try was class by the way.

Also what the hell was the ref on about calling Connacht up for a forward pass in the first half? I was watching from a fairly good angle, Tua'uosa broke through and was looking to be in for a try when it was called. Anyone get to see a replay of that? As far as I could see there was no pass AT ALL never mind a forward pass.

It's a pity as a win would have put us ahead of the Blues.

I thought he gave that for a knock on. When Ta'auso broke the tackle, he didn't have the best grip on the ball and nearly spilled it. It was the kind of 50/50 one and I suppose the "corrective movements" were judged to have been the knock on.
