Problem using dvds in dvd/cd rom drive

    Hey,
I recently bought a new custom build pc and with it a dvd/cd writer. The Drive worked at first but then it stopped recognising dvds.I thought this was because the dvd drive had broken and so i replaced it with another. When the same thing happened with this i realised that it wasnt to do with the dvd/cd rom drives.
On system boot at bios it says 'Sata blaa blaa blaa ,isrc 1.07 ,'This version supports only hard drives and cd rom drives'.This is where my problem seems to be.I just need help in finding a version that does fully support dvd rom drive as well as cd rom drive if this is the solution. If not,can someone please post.
    My motherboard is a ' Gigabyte EP45 UD3P ' and I have a Quad core 6600.Im also running windows vista ultimate 64bit sp1.
    All help is appreciated.Thanks
