I'll be getting set up with a phone when I go over and just wondering if anyone who has travelled extensively in the US would know of the best carriers for a mobile phone? AT&T, etc. I'll be in California and looking to get a bill phone type thing set up. Cheers for any advice

You'll have to have a credit check to get a mobile. You don't have credit so expect to pay a substantial deposit for the pleasure.

As for which company, haven't a clue, but you have to pay for a lot more there. If you want a mail box you have to pay, caller I.D you have to pay, some companies even charge you to receive calls.
