Looking to buy a midi controller

    Hi Folks,
I'm looking to buy a USB midi controller on-line. I might take advantage of the weak pound.

    Maybe a:
    M-AUDIO KEYSTATION 49E

I usually buy stuff from Thomann. Does anyone know if there's a cheaper place... perhaps in the UK who will deliver to Ireland?

    http://www.dolphinmusic.co.uk/shop/flypage/product_id/5613
Anyone ever bought from these guys?

Also... Does anyone know a bit about better midi controllers?. A standard enough one will probably do.. but I like the look of some of the weighted key ones.

    Keith

I used dolphin once and was not happy with the length of time it took them to process the order. I ended up getting my money back when the item in question had not left their plant 5 days later.

I've just this week bought some bits and bobs from http://www.absolutemusic.co.uk for the first time (and for the same reason as you) and was amazed to see my order arrive at the door in Waterford 3 days after clicking purchase.

    Keith,

I got a Novation compact sl a few weeks ago. I use it with Logic and it works very well with that.

The M-Audio Axioms are quite nice budget semi-weighted boards.

I use an MPK49 because it has a load of bells and whistles, but I had an Axiom once, and I quite liked the action on it.

Still, for the asking prices, those 2 M-Audio keyboards on adverts would be tempting.

It looks cool. I've left a message on one of them. Perhaps they're gone at this stage.

    Thanks for all the help.

I recently bought over a €1000 worth of stuff from Digital Village, saved a fortune compared to Thomann.
I used to always recommend Thomann but not anymore with Sterling so weak.

Cheapest deals right now are here:

    http://www.dv247.com/

    Novation 61SL Keyboard:
    €455 at DV247
    €522 at Thomann

    Edirol FA66 Soundcard:
    €201 at DV247
    €269 at Thomann

Total saved: €135...even more if Sterling weakens again.

    Thanks Cool1,
I'm going to buy a new one. I can't really hear a difference when the headphones are gold plated.

    Hideous,
That is a really good site. You had no probs with the delivery? How do they charge for delivery? Thomann used to be 15Euro for whatever to Ireland.

I'm thinking of buying a set of http://www.dv247.com/invt/28186/ these monitors too.
