Which Bike & where (help a moron)

I'm looking to get a hyrid, and was looking through the wiki which was posted in the sticky at the top, I noticed the three bikes mentionned there were the Trek 7.3FX, a Specialised Sirrus & Lapierre RCR 100.. I will be mainly using the bike for exercise but also commuting (instead of my motorbike during the summer time for health reasons, get the aul lungs functioning) & currently the only access I have (for a week or so anyway) is boards & wiki in work, so it's very hard to research, as I couldn't find info on those three bikes on wikipedia, and my works horrible internet disables the search function on boards :(

I'd quite like disc brakes on the bike and a good gearing system - soooo to the moron questions; I want to get this sucker online, when finally sorts out my home internet, what website would be the best one to use for this (as it will be cheaper than buying here) & if I buy online; how much assembly will I have to deal with (The only thing I'm good at fixing is computers, my hands tend to break everything else). lastly/most importantly, which one of those three bikes fits my needs the best..

Feel free to lambast me if this is one of many annoying similar threads, but help would be most appreciated as I would like to be able to order the thing as soon as I get my web access sorted! cheers..

    AFAIK:
Lapierre only available in cycle superstore (not seen them online anywhere else)
    Trek are not sold online
Specialized are not allowed to be exported from e.g. the UK to Ireland, although pearsons seem to be willing to flout that a bit.
so; your options restrict you to bricks and mortar stores in ireland and/or Northern Ireland. Alternatively look at alternatives such as wiggle or crc, and see if there's anything on their sites which interest you.
Disc brakes on a hybrid - never seen this setup personally, so it'd probably be a bit hard to find, unless you go for a cyclocross bike maybe.

DANG - I was hoping it would be easier - OK then, a much easier question (which I may have to get a mates internet to check the answer via phone because im finished in work shortly) - I'm on my way up to Belfast city tomorrow for the purposes of a small electronics purchase and a months worth of food (in a BIG car).. does anyone know any really good bricks and mortar shops up there I might be able to peruse for my needs, or (as it's been many years since I cycled and back then I was a bmx fan) even a really good general website if Belfast doesn't suit/ by general I mean for purchase as opposed to info, because there's a wonderfully hard to sift through mass of info absolutely everywhere!

Nah, there are a fair few like this now. They're just not cheap.

Not convinced myself - I like the idea of not having to fiddle about with pad-rim setup, but I like even less the thought of messing with hydraulics.

Jim, you're best off going to an internet cafe and having a browse around over a coffee.

Don't worry about assembly, usually the worst that's required is attaching pedals, wheels and handlebars, and maybe re-aligning the stem. All the complex stuff (i.e. gears and brakes) will have been done already. If in doubt, check before you buy but with Wiggle and CRC you'll have no difficulty.

The only non-obvious thing I've found on bike assembly is taking care with the headset bearings. I am a complete muppet too - even flat pack furniture is a challenge.

Guys, you've all been brilliant so far, and many thanks for the help - yeah I realise the dics are probably more difficult to deal with - but I'm a ten year long motorcyclist & there's some part of my brain (almost certainly wrong but let me know if it's not) - that disc brakes are reliable and powerful - I know (from experience many moons ago) that it's easy enough to throw too much power on front brakes on a bike even with the old regular style ones, but I feel the discs would be more intuitive for me.. sounds stupid when I type it out :p anyways, cheers for not whipping me out of it for the noob questions ;) home time!
