Just downloaded an app of the net and the DMG is failing to mount.
Took ages to download, will I have to do it again?
Also net connection dropped a few times during download, could this effect it?

Yeah it might have been corrupted. How big is it?

    Happens to me sometimes.
You could try relaunching Finder (press Alt+Cmd+ESC for Force Quit, then select Finder & click); or restarting OSX. Works for me sometimes.

tis a big one, over 4 gigs! quite annoying as it took a while to download.

I've often experienced problems opening big image files though. I find it's usually better to burn them instead.

Just burn it onto a dvd ( I presume, Given the size of it) with disk utility?

Yeah worth a try I suppose — if you have the disc to spare.

Are you actually getting an error message about it failing to mount? If so then I'd imagine it almost certainly is corrupted.

Yeah 4960 usually means it's corrupted alright.

    How did you download it?

Just a regular direct download on safari from digidesign on line store.

Safari is the problem. Don't ever use a web browser for a download that big. Use a download manager next time - either iGetter or Speed Download. More reliable and probably a lot faster as well.

They've improved a lot over the years but I still consider web browsers to be very dodgy when it comes to downloading.

they have their own download manager, but it refused to work for me, so I used safari, I'm going to download it again next week when I've access to high speed broadband. Thanks for the help guys.
