Gary Ryan has resigned from the AAI to take up a post at NUI Galway. I don't know anymore then this, but it was reported in this morning's Irish Independent.

Good luck to Gary in everything he does in the future, but I think this will turn out to be a huge loss to the AAI.

I met him at the level 1 course in Limerick last month and I thought he was brilliant, chatted to him for a while about Boards AC and he was all positive, it's a big loss.

Yes I think this was known since xmas but is only obviously out in the media etc now.

He will be a huge loss but from what I understand the athletes he is directly coaching will still have the benefit of knowledge and experience. Its the ones he wasn't directly involved with day in/day out who will lose out.

More reason for the Director of Athletics to be ratified. No point appointing Gary's successor until the Director of Athletics is confirmed.

He is assisting some in UL and Limerick. Not sure if the whole programme but definetly from a weights/strength perspective.
