    Just venting a bit......

Got myself a new bike over christmas(a tasty carbon specialized) and have only been able to get out for quick 1hour/1.5hour spins after work before it gets too dark.

Due to work my last 2 weekends have also been ruined.....heres hoping for non icy roads tomorrow and a spin up to the "GAP", need to stretch this bikes legs and see what it can do...

Look on the bright side - at least you still have a job.

I agree with Morgan ... count yourself lucky to still have a job and being able to get yourself a carbon bike.

I broke my wrist at the end of november, cycling on icy road, haven't been on the bike since ... very frustrating, but, I probably would have hurt myself on the icy roads anyway... taught me a lesson.

Before my fall I was still training after work in the dark, with all my lights keeping to the suburbs for an hour or so, avoiding roads with lights.

The sun is coming back, slowly but surely and you will be back on the roads for long and safe spins soon enough. I can't wait!!

Road riding... Try mountain biking. The trails are in the best condition I have seen them in in 6 months! Actually, that's what I'm off to do now :)

    Lucky ducker Ryan, enjoy!

Never tried the mountain trails and don't think I could spend another penny on bikes or equipment at the moment!!

Things might be getting dodgy in my own job soon but I've never spent big on myself, finally had some extra cash and decided to spend it on something I love doing and cleanses the mind and body..... I'm not going to apologise for my purchase;)

Wow, what time do you get out of work at? I haven't a hope of training in daylight during the week for any length of time until at least the end of March. I just use lights for my evening spins.

My work hours vary, if I get finished early I can make it home by half three or four.

    My new baby:)

I AM SO FRUSTRATED -- I have only been out on the bike 5 times (including two turbo sessions) in one month. I just want to flip out and have some "Falling Down" moments. Damn I fell no better after saying that.

To cap it all off last night when I was driving it was -3 so i decided not to cycle in today and on the train this morning I see almost no frost --- I should have biked.

Whats the issue? Invest in good lights and just go out. Pick a road that isn't prone to ice and off you go.

I have a training session that I'm planning on doing out the back of the airport. That's about it.

Ahh well -- if your heading to a boards spin sometime let me know. I could do with the extra km to one of there rides. I'm probably going to go up the coast for 4 hours or so tomorrow to slip in a 100 or so kms.

What time are you going at? Depending on when I get done, I may be able to join you.

Where I am (Canada) even the major roads that get gritted are lethal. There's usually a buildup of ploughed snow at the side of the road that of course means that the area where cyclists go is like an ice rink, or worse. Some days it has rained, which turns the snow into a soupy, skanky mess - and then overnight it will freeze over. I havent been out on the bike in a month, I'd say - and its really showing in the weight gain around my belly. I might risk it tonight, because I'm sick of using the trams, its not meant to snow; there's just the little matter of minus 10 degrees to deal with.
