Starts Monday 12th January on FX, 11pm.

From David and Simon and Ed Burns before they made the Wire. Brilliant mini-series. Hopefully this means it will be released on Region 2 dvd after it finishes on FX. It's only available on region 1 at the moment.

On another note,Generation Kill also by David Simon starts the 25th January also on FX.

I managed to get a copy of it. Now all I need to do is find time to watch it

Fantastic mini-series! Word of warning though, anyone who thought the Wire was too grim should steer clear of this one!

I watched all of season one of The Wire and couldnt be arsed with anymore, too slow moving and directionless. The Corner is great though, think it is only about 6 episodes though. Channel 4 showed it late night years ago. Plot moves along nicely (partly based on a true story apparently, whether it is or not is obviously unknown....)

    Good accompanying book too.

Its excellent. Would have liked to see De'andro and his father in The Wire, real screen stealers.

IN Simons book 'Homicide' he mentions that the corner was based on the story of a woman he met a couple of times during his journalist work

FYI, the real DeAndre McCullough acted in The Wire as Brother Mouzone's 'assistant' - the guy who gets his magazines etc.

Slow moving, yes, because it payed attention to the detail, and life can be slow moving...real life doesn't have cliffhangers every 15 minutes.

Directionless??? It is one of the most focused piece of television ever put together!
