Low Ki signs for WWE

Various wrestling sites including PW insider, Wrestlezone etc are reporting that since former TNA and ROH standout Low Ki lost the IWGP Junior Heavyweight belt over the weekend and that he is not booked in Japan in the coming months signal his impending arrival in the WWE, reports also say Low Ki is backstage at this weeks FCW tapings adding fuel to the fire

I always liked Ki but is his stiff style WWE, with a different name and gimmick and more than likely toned down style can he succeed if the WWE, time will tell I suppose

Done the old fashioned way hope it works

Low Ki is backstage at tonight's Florida Championship Wrestling event. No doubt this will further speculation that he will be coming in to WWE, especially after he dropped New Japan Pro Wrestling's IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship this past Sunday.

I remember seeing Low Ki wrestle on Heat a few times years ago, was one of the few jobbers to stand out.

Would like to see him back, could do well on ECW.

Low Ki would not work out in WWE. For one thing, his size would have him in the "cruiser" category. Secondly, he is far too stiff and would be needing to tone that down something massive.

Now, according to most thing written about Low Ki, he is supposed to be a bit of a jerk and not very open to any new ideas regarding his style, which he refers to as his art. So would need to come in with a very open mind to new suggestion.

If he did come in, there are some great matches ready in waiting for him - Punk, Jericho, MVP. However, I reckon he will be about as well used as Jimmy Yang and Jamie Noble and a future of jobbing awaits him.

Haven't seen much of him outside of TNA tbh but from what I gathered from that is that he doesn't have the greatest mic skills, which pretty much mean he's destined for midcard in WWE

Unless they give him a Tajiri-esque gimmick I can't see it working out. Just not the right style

love low key ever since his massive fude with j leatal, he can work a good match and punk didnt have to tone down his stile much maby hell work (but i also here he is a backstage nightmare)

    He has signed its offical...

    http://www.low-ki.com/
    WORLD WRESTLING ENTERTAINMENT!
Associated Press: It is with great excitement that we announce "The World Warrior" LOW-KI has joined World Wrestling Entertainment! Speculation had been in circulation after he participated in a non televised match November 4, 2008. Nothing was confirmed or reported, since it was assumed that he was still contractually obligated to compete in New Japan Pro Wrestling and was the IWGP Jr Heavyweight Champion. After NJPW's "Wrestle Kingdom" events, contract negotiations begin for the new year. Terms apparently were not agreed upon and in his debut match, LOW-KI was victorious, putting away Florida Championship Wrestling's Trent Berretta with the "Warrior's Way". Words cannot describe the excitement we feel here and we would like to congratulate "The World Warrior" on his incredible success!

I give him no longer than the end of this year before his release. Low Ki is a mark for himself, and I am pretty sure he cannot hold the bookers head over the barrel for more money to do a job.

On the other hand, if they can mould him as well as the have CM Punk it is a big addition to them. It is probably a very good move financially for Ki.

Wonder what they will change his name to?

He will probably called something stupidly ridiculous and borderline racist.

cant see him being over with the younger fan tbh.

    Congrats to

speculation that he is going to appear under a mask as rey reys evil doppelganger

Well that's clearly wrong because Rey only works with talentless big guys:p

Ive been a fan of Low Ki since I seen him a few years ago when TWC started BATTER Special K in ROH.Think he is destained to fail though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,943 ✭✭✭Machismo Fan

They may just change his name to Loki, Lowki or Lo-Ki and trademark that. If he's allowed do the Warriors Way in WWE it will help him really stand out, that thing looks sick.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,391 ✭✭✭D2D

    - Low Ki (a.k.a. "Kaval") is expected to debut soon on Smackdown and begin a feud with Rey Mysterio. He will debut under a mask and programmed as someone from Mysterio's past in Mexico. Officials first discussed the idea early last year, but plans were thwarted when the former TNA X Division champion suffered a serious leg injury.(source: PWInsider.com)

it makes me sad that Senshi was woefully misused by TNA. He's an awesome talent....a real life Mortal Kombat/Street Fighter character... stiff as hell, and it looks great. I'd put him in there with Angle to sort him out :pac::pac::pac:

Hopefully he shows up on TV soon...it's been a while :(

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 937 ✭✭✭michael.etc...

Personally, i'd love for this to happen soon, and give Rey a big one-on-one match for Mania. I also like the idea of debuting Ki under a hood, and building up a mask vs mask match between the two. One of Low Ki's big strength's is his range of diabolical expressions, but they could be saved for when he finally does the job to Rey. It would provide an instant hook for fans unfamiliar with Ki, and also allow for a stipulation that could feasibly be adhered to.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,013 ✭✭✭✭jaykhunter

I really hope he's handled well (what you said sounds great) but I really can't see WWE getting behind Senshi. He's not a high-flyer, he's a natural heel and more of a stiff japanese-style wrestler...I really doubt WWE will use him well, I hope i'm proved wrong!

I can just imagine at the Creative meetings "ah he's just a small lad, no-one'll ever take him seriously beating up lads bigger than him...Send him the way of Taz" :(

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 21,296 ✭✭✭✭gimmick

I would argue with you that he is a high flyer tbh. Maybe not on the level of the likes of London, but he gets in plenty aeriel offense.

If handled correctly, he could have some amazing matches with Rey. I see the idea of the hood never went away, as it was reported earlier in the year (and in this thread) that he was going to be an "evil Rey".

This thread reminds me to watch his match with KENTA again from Final battle 2005. Incredible.

I think WWE really could build a whole divison around Low ki, Bourne, Kidd, and obviously Danielson when he debuts.. kinda like the Benoit/Angle/Jericho fued in 2000 which based around who was the better wrestler.. i think that'd be phenomenal

^ me I'm afraid. I just thought the topic might have slipped away if it was not obvious what it was about.

100% agreed. Add in Noble, Yang and a few others and it writes itself.

Fair enough then carry on haha

Hopefully he debuts soon and has the chance to show what he can do same for Danielson, Has he been portraying any kind of gimmick during dark matches?

absolutely.. even if they were just an undercard division, were wrestling was the focus over storylines, almost like the cruiserweights in WCW were too.. that be a great way for them to get over

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 21,296 ✭✭✭✭gimmick

The only drawback to that is, even though WCW pushed it, it will not help the draws and if it did, may annoy the big boys.

Personally(and i could be gettin way waaayy ahead of myself here) i think Raw could use a divison like that, where its entertaining and therefore means Cena, HHH and co dont have to wrestle so much on free to air television..meaning it means people might actually want to see them on PPV

How much of a factor would Low Ki's size really be?

In many cases WWE wrestlers are now a leaner group.

He wouldn't look out of place against Punk, Jericho, Egde, Mysterio, Orton, Kofi, Morrison, Ziggler, Truth, Hardy, Kidd, HBK, Di Biase, Rhodes, Bourne, Primo, Miz of the top of my head.

Even good ol Sheamus is getting built as a monster despite size wise not being as big as guys pushed as monsters in the past.

I know what you mean! Low Ki does his Warrior's Way and some top-rope stuff but I never thought of him as a high-flyer like Rey, since he has a lot of ground attacks, unlike Rey.

Yes, KENTA is awesome. I love KENTA :) ( although he's had a quiet 2nd half of the year :( )

Unfortunately if Low Ki doesn't get the "Rey Mysterio" spot (I don't think he will) he'll end up being a highly talented guy that doesn't do much in the company, like so many smaller guys before him (London & Kendrick, R-Truth, Shelton, Bourne etc etc)

I'm completely biased towards Sheamus but I imagine "the nod" from Triple H is all it took to get him a main event. To be fair, I think he'll make a great champion down the line. He does have some mic skills (although his current promos are quite generic) and is improving a lot in the ring. I'm fully on the Sheamus band-wagon!

Yeah, it sucks. He wrestled McGuinness when he was injured so although it was still good, it wasn't half the match it could've been :(

KENTA's in 4 of my top 10 matches for this year...(all from the first 6 months though) Only one that could rival KENTA for wrestler of the year (IMO) is Davey Richards, who had an amazing year :)
    1. KENTA vs Nakajima - NOAH 1st March 2009

    2. KENTA vs Davey Richards - Supercard of Honor IV - April 2009)

    3. KENTA vs. Kotaro Suzuki NOAH 1/25

    6. KENTA vs Nakajima - NOAH Feb 11, 2009

(Didn't make the top ten but would be around 12 or so)
Austin Aries & Nakajima vs Tyler Black & KENTA - ROH Take no Prisoners June 2009

Holy **** that must've been amazing! I loved that match...got a hankering to go back and watch it. Richards was in so much agony at the end of the match, it looked like he was gonna puke once he got back behind the curtain! Fantastic...

Can't wait to see Davey's match with Danielson, said to be epic.
