Pixmania - Cancel order and the price goes up

I am not at all impressed with Pixmanias service. I placed an order on 29th December for 2 ixus 90 cameras at E154 each. To cut a long story short, they wanted me to send them proof of ID and a bill which I did to verify my credit card.. i've had no problems using it on an infinite of other websites. I was expecting delivery of the cameras this week and e-mailed them to ask what's the update only to find out (after e-mailing them to ask what's the delay) that my order has been cancelled and now conveniently the cameras price has risen to E196.

    Dear Mr XXXXXX,

Following a standard verification carried out by our online insurance partners, we regret to inform you that we are unable to process your order XXXXXXXXXXXX.

We have therefore proceeded in cancelling this order.

We would like to remind you that other methods of payment are available, such as a money transfer.

Please do not hesitate to contact our customer service team on 0818 244 100 for further information.

We look forward to hearing from you soon.

    Best Regards,

    James Felix
    Customer Service Director

Is this not an illegal practice that they are raising their prices?

Ordered a camera a while back on it. They sent me a letter saying my bank didn't accept the order. Called my bank, they said there's no problem with my card. I called their customer service number. Waited for 8mins without speaking to a human before i got bored and hung up.
Cancelled the order. Got my camera from another website.

Learnt a lesson to never deal with pixmania again!

jeez theres a huge amount of bad feedback floating around about Pixmania.. Doesnt look they give a crap. I took a chance and purchased a TV from them last year.. I got lucky. I didnt have any problems with the order/delivery but i definitely will not be using them again.
With the reducing levels of disposable income people have these days, you would think they would try to maintain customers instead of making them go elsewhere.

I've just recieved the Credit card bill and pixmania is after taking the money for the cameras (dated 4th January). - What a joke, the order is now 'cancelled' according to their website. Does any one have any numbers for any of the directors of Pixmania?

I read a previous thread that listed a few email address for them, there is no phone number. - Search boards for @pixmania and Id say you will hit a few threads.

Careful you dont go over 30 days, get CC company to refund if possible.

There's a phone number listed on their site at http://www.pixmania.ie/ie/uk/commitments.html

If they wont help, your credit card company certainly can. You'll need to send them proof that the order was cancelled and thay can reverse the charge. It's quite a hassle though.

What's the issue if it goes over 30 days? I'm in the process of negotiating with cc company, I have to fax all the e-mails i've sent to pixmania to pixmania again and then on to cc. Do pixmania actually sell products or just store wads of money in a high interest account? I spoke to Alice Walker after calling fotovista in france, she guaranteed me a return but go no joy there. If there was a pixmania shop I'd go down and trash it after my troubles with them, such a bunch of wasters.
